Default Brake and tail light issue

Have a tail light problem on my 1960 GMC step side . I have power to the headlight switch but no tail or brake lights .The headlights work as they should . If I jump the red power in wire on the headlight switch to the black tail light wire the tail lights work . If the light switch is turned on or if I run a hot wire to the brake light switch the brake lights work. I have replaced the headlight switch but no difference . Can't figure this one out.

Thank for any help

The orange wire supplies voltage to those circuits..so the orange wire is broken somewhere or it's fuse is blown. Check for voltage at orange wire terminal on H/L sw. Check voltage, in and out, of tail/stop/dome fuse. Your dome light is probably not working either. Hot RED comes to that fuse, thru fuse and out to Hot ORN. Hot ORN branches to dimmer and to H/L sw where it energizes BLK at switch "on" mode.

Appears to be in the orange wire at the fuse box ,by moving the wire I get intermittent power to the light switch . Thanks for pointing me in the right direction AZ Ken.
