Under Cab Fuel Filter
My Rescue Squad does not have the under cab fuel filter, I found one in my collection but the canister has a start chart in the bottom of it when you hold it up to the light, so I need to find another one.
Anybody know of a good part number for just the canister? I had the guys over at O'Rilley look for it, they came up with a Fuelpump & Filter combo, for a 73-76 Ford pickup, the canister is the same but I didn't see the need to buy a $40 fuel pump just to get a canister. I'm going to do a little more searching of the net but so far I have not found anything useable. At this point I have 2 inline filters mounted between the fuel pump and carb.

Just found one on ebay, saved the pics, here they are and you can even see the GM part numbers.

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
If you remove the canister and filter does it drain the whole tank? I don't think the previous owner ever changed it.

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
Yes it will, you have to be quick. Or undue the connection at the top of the tank before working on th efilter.

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
My filter has a little length of about 4 inches of rubber hose on it. If yours does too put a clamp or lock a pair vice grips on that hose and it wont leak. Just don't lock it down so tight you cut the line

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
Thanks for the replies.
The reason I asked is I poured about 1/2 gallon of mineral spirits into the empty tank that has been sitting for 7 years. When I noticed and removed the filter I got about 1 cup of fluid out(right down my arm and into my arm pit causing me to jump into the pool because it burned like a...) I used mineral spirits because it seemed to attack the glop of sludge I fished out of the carb better than anything I tested on it, including carb cleaner. So I guess the tank doesn't drain completely through the filter? I was planning on pulling it anyways. |

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
Does anyone know the part number for the top portion of this gas filter assembly, the part that this housing screws on to? I'd like to add one of these filters to my truck.

Re: Under Cab Fuel Filter
Part#5651879
Search E-bay with that part#... $30! How about some automotive trivia? AC stands for Auguste Champion. William Durant made his company part of GM but he already sold the rights to his name so they used his initials. Delco stands for Dayton Electric Company... another one of Durant's purchases. Somewhere along the line they were combined into one company. Thanks for listening to me babble(insomnia). |
