Default Parking brake issue HELP!

I am in dire need of some local help. My 64 has NO parking brake at all and the x-member and swivel points under the truck and the cables are missing. This is a safety issue as I need to drive this truck frequently for work. Anyone locally able to help me figure out some way to stop this truck? I am in the SF Bay Area

By any chance, has your truck had a transmission swap? This seems to be the most common explanation for the missing crossmember.

If you are starting from scratch you might want to look at the 66-later cable arrangement (no crossmember). This is probably the easiest way to go if your transmission has been swapped. I believe the 66 setup was used until at least as late as 72.

I don't know if it has been swapped. it was a 3 on the tree but it now still 3 spd but shifter is on floor. Does anyone have a how to for the 66-72 cable swap?

If the 3 speed is original, my guess is that the crossmember might have interfered with the floor shift conversion, but that's only a guess.

This thread might be of some help:

Here is a look at parts of the system:

Where the cables attach to the trailing arm:

look back along the drivers side of the frame you can see a little eyebolt that routes the cable toward the rear and attached to the frame of the truck:

Just find a 66 at the salvage and rob all the e brake stuff........??
