Default clutch

I am Canadian, so know nothing about the GMC V6. But have always been fascinated by them. Eventually like to put one in my 65 910 which is just a chevy with a GMC dash and grille. My question is about clutch linkage, do I have to convert to a hydraulic clutch, or is there a provision on the side of a V6 block to bolt on the mechanical linkage pivot.

One issue is the bell housing. Most mechanical clutches have the arm activating the throw out bearing on the left, on the GMC hydraulic the actuating is done from the right. Going hydraulic is far easier to plumb on a retro than dealing with mechanical linkage due to alignment and location of pivot points. Some of the pivot points require a bracket mounted to the top of the frame rail in alignment with another on the side of the bell housing hard to do if the frame wasn't designed for the bracket in the first place.

Yes, I got to thinking about the bell housing and realizing that there is a difference. I can't bolt a Chev bell housing to a GMC engine. Sorry, it was a spur-of-the-moment thought and a dumb question.
