1962 GMC K1000 front leaf spring leaf length?
My 1962 GMC K1000 Suburban has different length bottom short leaves on the front springs. Second shortest on both sides is 21-1/2". Bottom leaf on drivers side is 19-3/4", passenger side is 13"
The odd thing is the bottom leaf on the driver side has an imprint on the bottom from an 11" spring, which either means there was 6 leaves originally and the last was removed, or this leaf was installed replacing the original maybe 13" leaf. Maybe it sagged a bit on the drivers side and the 13" leaf was replaced with a longer stiffer one to level the truck. Though this seems a bit odd that anyone would notice and then go through the trouble to fix it. How many leaves and how long are the bottom two on your K1000? Are they usually the same on both sides? |

Re: 1962 GMC K1000 front leaf spring leaf length?
The five leaves on each side of the front end on my '62 Suburban look identical to me. I'm fairly certain they came from the factory that way. I'm attaching photos. I didn't try measuring them, though. Let me know if the photos will do, or if you need me to take a wheel off and measure the leaves too.

Re: 1962 GMC K1000 front leaf spring leaf length?
Thanks Ed! I've already concluded the longer bottom leaft on the driver side of my truck is a replacement leaf and that they were or should be the same on both sides.
