Aftermarket hocking hubs for 66 K1000 front axle
Hey all! I'm a newbie here. I have a 66 K1002 with front locking hubs that look pretty old and leaky and feeble...but they do work. I have used aftermarket hubs in the past on other 4x4s but I see that Warn only has them for the larger 3/4 ton front axles of that era and don't have aftermarket locking hubs for the 1/2 ton until the 67-72 models. Does anyone know if I can replace those old locking hubs with new aftermarket hubs? Also, did it come with locking hubs or were these "full time" 4wd? Thanks!

Re: Aftermarket hocking hubs for 66 K1000 front axle
I would check with other hub manufacturers on what they have for older trucks. The old "Selectro" hubs are being reproduced so I would give them a try. As far as full time 4wd there was no such thing until 1973. Hubs were optional equipment on 60-66 GMC trucks and not all came equipped as such from the factory. My fathers 62 that he specialy ordered didn't either so he had the dealer install them. If one of these trucks didn't have locking hubs then the front differential and driveshaft would spin all the time in 2wd mode but it's still in 2wd. Locking hubs were an after thought and early 4wd trucks pre-date locking hubs.
