Default A better introduction

Hello all, Funky61 asked to see a bigger pic of my avatar so here it is. I found where I did a brief intro in the "Thank You Staff" thread, but felt I better do a little better job of it.

I am a die hard GMC addict but unfortunately I don't have a 60-66 V-6 powered one right now, even tho 4 GMC's are in my stable.

A 1960 GMC Suburban Mom and Dad bought new in 1960 is responsible for a couple of long time GMC ownerships in later years, and maybe someday I can swing getting another early 60's Burb again.

I got my first drivers license in a GMC and a few other good and bad firsts in a GMC, a truck Mom drove for 30 years and I now own it.

This pic is Mom on Christmas Day 1963 with the '60 Suburban in the background. It is the only pic we have of that truck. The condition of the pic is poor since it went thru a flood in 1972 and was found several miles from where the house was.

This is the link to my original post. go to reply #13. That pic is cropped closer there.

I have been a member of this club since 2006 I believe and have always liked the information and respectful interraction among the members.

Did all of those trucks come from the factory with Chevy engines, or did any of them originally have a V-6 which was later replaced with something else?

You are welcome Funky61, I appreciate it! I dig your Suburban, by the way!

Well--------no, none of my GMC's I own right now ever had a V-6. That being said, I hope to have one of these, preferably a 1960 GMC Suburban, again someday. My '55 had a 248 I-6 originally and a V-8 of the day was a Pontiac. Sometime before 1997 someone put a 1968 230 Chevy in it tho. My other 2 older GMC's have the dreaded 350 Chevy V-8 in them.

I'm glad to see your 55 is a driver. That should get you some thumbs up when you are out on the road.

Thanks Ray, the '55 is straight but pretty ugly. I do get a lot of waves and thumbs up driving it tho.
