Hi Guys, I'm going to add an electric fuel pump to my 305A V-6, which model do you recommend?

Re: Need suggestion for elec. fuel pump.
I'm using an Edelbrock part #17301 fuel pump on my 1967 305e. It was readily available at O'Reilly's and has worked well. https://www.edelbrock.com/universal-...e85-17301.html is the page.

Re: Need suggestion for elec. fuel pump.
This type of fuel pump works well as long as it is mounted close to the fuel tank. This type doesn't have a long life if it is required to pull fuel from the tank rather than pushing it.

Only regret I have, I wished I would have installed that pump many years ago. The engine lights off quick like a new one and I no longer have to replace the mechanical pump when on roads trips due to diaphragm failure. |

Re: Need suggestion for elec. fuel pump.
With all the interest in installing electric fuel pumps on older vechiles we should also share our knowledge on safe guarding the usage. An electric fuel should be controlled so if the engine dies/ or if the ignition switch is on but the engine not running the pump doesn't keep running and pumping gas. In the past I have mentioned that the ones I have installed - the only way I would ever installed one is thru an oil pressure switch/ or relay combo so went the engine has no oil pressure the pump isn't powered.

Re: Need suggestion for elec. fuel pump.
I use both an Oil pressure switch combined with an Inertia switch.
I have seen this unit recommended but have not tried it as of yet. https://www.revolutionelectronics.co...Fuel_Pump.html * Just a side note on the Carter 4070. Try to find the units that are stamped "Made in the U.S.A." Mine just died after about 8 years and I've read that the new ones are made in China and reviews are spotty.

My electric pumps are connected to power with momentary contact pushbutton switches. I only use the electric pumps at initial start-up. One time when a mechanical pump failed, I had to hold the switch down until I made it home.
