Default More bad news for my 401

Finally got the driver's side head off. Definitely helps when you take out all the bolts

Do not like what I saw after vacuuming out a handful of dust.

Anybody got a set of oversize 401 pistons for sale????

Ouch!! That is one thing that I least like to see when removing a cylinder head from an engine!! That is indeed a mechanics nightmare!!

Had this happen to one of my 351's - I doubt very much if you can bore this cylinder or others enough to clean it up for new pistons/rings. What I would advise is to keep searching for any sets of good pistons/rings that come along and then sleeved the block for the size pistons you have. You would have a much better chance getting a set of standard , .020 or .030 over than waiting for a set of .060 - but if they come along GET THEM when you can. It's good to have options.

I want to pull the crank to see if there's any other damage. Maybe I can get crank pulley off today.

Things are not looking good ;(
