Default 351E Camshaft same as the 305E Cam?

Hello - I'm new to the forum but have owned the same 1965 Suburban since 1991 - factory motor is a 305E with the Powerglide transmission. Over the years I have purchased many new engine parts for a motor rebuild when needed. The time has come for a different engine - 305E has piston/wrist pin noise and what to rebuild a 1968 351E (has magnum manifolds and heads) for the replacement. My question is - I have a NOS 305 camshaft - will this fit the 351 - if it will install - I want to have a RV regrind done for a little lope thru the dual-exhaust H pipe system. What's you guy's thoughts? Thanks, Cliff

The 305 cam will fit the 351 and it would be a good idea to have it re-ground to RV specs as well as for the bigger displacement engine.

Smile Re: 351E Camshaft same as the 305E Cam?

Thanks for the reply - could you give me the specs for the regrind such as the duration, lift and recommended spring pressures? Researched the 1966 - 74 "Magnum 351 -478 Factory Cam as GM Part# 2470932 - would this be a good regrind or do you recommend something a little stiffer?
Thanks Again for Your Help

So did this cam work? I have a 305E and found a cam for a 351.Was wondering if the 351 cam a fit in the 305 before I buy it?
