Backup lights for fenderside
I have a set of NOS backup lights I got on eBay. I have searched the site for information about how to position and mount them, but haven't found a clear answer. Can someone point me to a mounting diagram or template I can access online? I haven't found any clear pictures on the site that show backup lights mounted on a fenderside either. Mine is a 1960.

My truck is a 1966 that had the lights from the factory via holes in the rear fenders. I can measure the holes if that is what you are looking for? I have also seen and had a set of brackets that mounted the lights like the stop lights off of the rear of the bed. I sold the brackets some time ago, however. Regards, Steve New Orleans |

Re: Backup lights for fenderside
Steve,
Yes I would like to know the size hole for the lights, and if you could measure the distance from the center to the bed and to the bottom of the fender it would be a big help. If you could also send me a picture to my direct email if you have time - email removed Thanks for your reply, Terry Livonia, MI |

Thanks, I love this club.
Does the manual have a picture of the template? What is the size of the hole in the fender? Terry |

Re: Backup lights for fenderside
I don't think a precise location matters, you wouldn't want it to low where the bumper blocked the light and you can only put it so close to the taillight. I would put it in the middle of the taillight ad the bumper give it the old eagle eye, whatever looks the best. If you have a factory assembly manual it might have some info on the backup lights in there good luck..Vernski

Re: Backup lights for fenderside
Terry:
Here are the measurements from my 1966 fender. My apologies, but I didn't have a camera to provide a picture. Let me know if this works or I will round one up. Center hole for the lights is 1.25" in diameter. This hole is centered 5 3/8" from the edge of the fender where it meets the bed of the truck and 7" from the body line of the fender down to the hole. Additionally, it has two .25" holes on either side of the center hole for the bolts that hold the light. These two .25" holes are at 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions on the center hole. These two .25" holes measure 1 7/8" from center to center. Mark that off and see how it looks compared to your lights and let me know. Regards, Steve New Orleans |
