1966 GMC Dana 44 2WD spider gears
I have a 66 GMC Dana 44 in my 66 Suburban. I've broken two sets of Spider Gears. These are stock open rear ends with 3:54 gears. Does anyone make a GOOD strong set of dependable gears for these ? I have a slightly heavy foot.....Also I learned I need to remove the ring gear to change out the siders because the pin hits the ring gear. Any advise ? THANKS !

Re: 1966 GMC Dana 44 2WD spider gears
I have a 62 GMC Suburban and just blew the spiders. What replacements did you use?????? and from where? Don't want to restore a whole new rear. I can't find any replacements that look the same with the notched X shafts that hold the spiders

Dana-Spicer is still out there. I believe Jeep products still use Dana 44. I found there web site to be helpful.
