Default Interior rear view mirror

What is the correct type of interior rear view mirror to use on a 64 GMC K1500? Keep in mind the rear window is the smaller oval one, which "may" interfere with an unobstructed view.
Thanks in advance

90% of trucks sold had the standard window like you have. All used the same mirror. I think the day/night mirror was an option.

Thank you for the information AZKen. My main concern is the distance from the [cab] ceiling to the mirror itself. Will the mirror hang down low enough to not have obstruction with the smaller rear window? Unlike the larger rear windows, which easily has plenty of glass area on the rear window to use a ceiling mounted mirror. I'm just concerned since the rear of the cab window area has a larger metal area vs glass area. In other words, would it be advisable to use a mirror that mounts to the windshield, as I could mount the mirror somewhat lower. I definitely prefer to mount the mirror which ever way the OEM did, but at the same time I don't want to have a restricted view due to the smaller rear window. I don't think it matters, but the truck is a 64 K1500 w/ factory 4wd.

DSC02649.JPGThe stock mirror will let you see out the back window. The trucks came with side mirrors also and many folks added big side mirrors. We can't tell you what visibilty level is good for your eyes. You will just have to add or modify until you are happy. Now that I see you are not trying to stay purist original, there are endless aftermarket mirror options to choose from.
My 1960 4x4 Big Window short bed 305 V6 custom cab shown was sold a few years ago. After market side mirrors.

GMChio,

I too have the small back window cab and the standard mirror arm is fine, I opted to add the Day/Night mirror for folks that LOVE their high beams.... The Dinsmore compass is designed to mount using the top screw.
