Default adopted machine shop orphan yesterday

I was looking for a 478 and all I found was a little ol' 351

351M abandoned in 1988 after being fully machined, complete with all engine parts and NEW bearings, new pistons, etc.

Owner retired and sold everything to another machine shop, young guy is sorting through trailer load of blocks and heads to see if anything is worth saving.

Will add pix as I unload.

Now I've got a 401 to tear down and a 351 to put together.

Did I get a good deal at $700?

$700 for what's basically a new crate 351? I'd do that all day. You'll get to use that for the rest of your lifetime without any major overhauling. Nice find!

Some people are like slinkys. Not worth much but funny as heck when pushed down stairs.

It's a 351C, bored .060 with new pistons. Crank is beautiful. Rust in cylinders cleaned up with no problems. Complete set of bearings, rings, gasket set etc. Only thing missing was freeze plugs; found new set on ebay.
Pix of the haul:
