1964 “Split rims” tire options?
I have my 1964 original 3/4 ton Split rims and caps for my GMC pickup. Want to put tires, rims, and caps on my truck for local drives. What are the original and widest safe option for these rims? Have new rims and tires on truck, but at times, would like to show off original equipment.

Re: 1964 “Split rims” tire options?
Had Split rims on my ‘63, 3/4t, 4wd, they were 15” wheels. Unfortunately they were removed and crushed (Texas/Ok outlaws them), before I could rescue. Have 16” steelies, very similar, but not as nice as yours. I have two of the old dog dish hubcaps for the rear wheels if I could find some 8 lugs they’d fit on. Don’t have the front dog dish caps that fit over the locking hubs though. All a moot point b/c I don’t have wheels either. I’m right there with you though. Would love to get some white
ones for it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 1964 “Split rims” tire options?
Think my original rims are useable with 15 inch wheels. Read they are not as dangerous as true split rims, but do not know for sure. Curious widest allowable on original rims.
