1965 Thunderbird
Yep, it's a FORD! Never thought I'd own another one. I've only had one other Ford in my life, a 2004 1ton with the 6.3 garbage diesel in it. And, yes, it DID blow up on me and cost me $10k. Swore I'd never own another one...HOWEVER. I know pretty much everything was built better the further back you go and have always loved this body style (I know, not many do, but I'm kinda different that way).
Anyway, it's only a minor 'project'. Most of the heavy lifting has been done and the one major 'repair' that was left when I bought it was the steering column that I'm having rebuilt by a specialist. I have already done some work on it. The auto windows needed new gears so I did that and they're working like new again. When I get it back I'm going to go through a complete maintenance schedule since I don't know exactly where it was on those things. The ONE major piece is that it is not an original AC car...so I'm going to buy the kit and install that. They've got those things worked out so you can about do em blindfolded but it's still a BUNCH of work. I know, I JUST got back on the truck...but I'm going to have to squeeze the TBird in for the AC or it will end up sitting in the garage for 4 months this summer.

My brother owns a beautiful white 1966 T-Bird rag top. We've cruised many miles in it. It is a head turner.

Yeah, my brother's first car was '68 Mustang and he became the black sheep 'Ford fan' of the family. BROTHERS! MAN! lol. I've been wanting to putting up some kind of Thunderbird sign in the shop but they all seem to come with that sicking blue oval on them! Very torn...just trying not to think about it too much because I really do love the car.

Nice addition to the herd but that's not nearly enough pictures!
My first car was a T-bird and i used it as a chainsaw in Ft Worth Texas on a winding road I was NOT ready to drive at 16. Flew right into the trees. If not for the car wedging itself between two trees just slightly closer than the width of the car, I would have crashed head-on into a much larger tree at about 50 mph. Anyway, that's my Tbird story. Loved that boat of a car. Only other ford I've owned and loved is the 7.3 diesel trucks. You can't kill them. I did have a mustang (91), but it was trash. Only reason I wanted it was because I rented one for vacation back in 93 and loved it. My how times and priorities change. How about some more pics of your new baby? Fetch, NOW I know a lot of people with that 7.3 and it just won't quit. That's one of the drawbacks to not liking Ford, so I had no knowledge about them prior to getting that 6.0, otherwise I might still have it and loving Ford if I'd gotten the 7.3.

That is some comfy looking interior! I JUST got her back Saturday after being in the shop for over a month and a half! I had the steering column rebuilt by ole' *funny, his first name is short for Richard and it won't let me use it* 'D' Hoglund at T-Bird Specialists (standing with me in the picture from when I picked it up). He'd done 50 of them in his career and the job averaged 5-6 hours...before he got to mine. He said that was probably the last one he'll ever do. Anyway, the first thing I did when I got her home was wash it and take a bunch of pictures...so I can add some more. That was killing me too...I had that ONE picture for the last month and half. Adding some of those.

Wow, now that's a ride! He did some great work! You'll have to clear off a shelf for the trophies if you start taking it to shows.

Thanks sir! I'm entering my first ever this Saturday. A little local one that is expected to have under 50 cars. She's got her flaws though, far from perfect despite how photogenic she is. We'll see how it goes. I'll let you all know next week how it went.
