Is Electric Fuel Pump Necessary with Holley 500?
Hey guys, can the stock mechanical fuel pump on my 351E keep up with the Holley 500? The PO put a spare Holley he had lying around the shop on it, but never got to test it. I am hoping to get my spark issues lined out this weekend and start this beast up. Should I go ahead and plan on upgrading the fuel pump too?

The stock fuel pump will keep up with the holley just fine. You don't need an electric unless you just prefer it.

The recommended pressure is 5-7 for the Holley, so like Fetch stated, you should be fine.
I kept having new fuel pumps go bad on me (maybe shelf stock was too old?) so I went electric.

I prefer electric, but the stock should hold up.

Re: Is Electric Fuel Pump Necessary with Holley 500?
Awesome! Thanks guys. I wasn't getting any fuel and the pump looks rather new. So of course I take the pump off, manualyl pump the lever and can feel the suction on the line.Check the lines, They are Clear. Check fuel level in the tank, Plenty. Why no fuel? So I finally use my brain and start with the simplest answer. The PO had the fuel lines reversed on the pump. I'm an Idiot!

If your float is set right, and your pump is good you won't have any problems. Dave
