Cranky is on a distinguished road
Default Hello from new guy “Cranky”

Wanted to say hello and introduce my self.
I’ve owned and operated a body and paint shop for 23 years and during that time I try to build one vehicle a year to flip.
My dad who is also new to this forum (azcornman) wanted to start a build for my son who just turned 16.
We found ourselves a fairly clean 1964 GMC “wrongbed” pickup.
We actually purchased it more then a year ago but with the previous owner and his run around of actually producing the title “burned in a house fire, was in moms name and she died” we gave up on him and just did a bonded title. Now we are good to go!
Basic plan of action for the truck is to shorten the bed
5.3 swap
Relocate gas tank
4/6 drop

So nothing crazy, it will be my son’s first truck so the build will be fairly conservative.
I will update with pictures as we move along.
Thanks in advance for any answers and advice.

Son (American flag headband) and his buddies pulled the monster v6

Default Re: Hello from new guy “Cranky”

Welcome aboard! Well, as you probably know from the other posts, we're all about keeping it original. The gas tank move is probably not frowned on too much, but that 5.3 (eww) and drop (gag) are enough to get you burned at the stake.

There's so much history in these very rare GMCs and the old 305 V6's that keeping them alive and intact is a passion. If one wants to just cut up a truck there are plenty of chivvys to play with. You may not know, but they were different vehicles from the chivvys in the 60s and while only a few GMCs were made, tons of chivvys were made.

Anyway, good looking bunch of helpers you have there. Best of luck!

Some people are like slinkys. Not worth much but funny as heck when pushed down stairs.
