Default 478 custom flywheel

Hi guys my first time posting I have 63 k1500& I ran across a 69 7500 fire tanker truck with 14k mi & 1200hrs. The engine is like brand new. I know you guys are a wealth of knowledge on these! I've read a lot of old posts on this subject& am wondering if anything is new? Like is anyone making customflywheels this conversion?? I'm told that all connecting rods are same length ? If that's true I have a305e on stand w/28k could I put that in the 478m or won't it work or not feasible (forgot to mention fire trk is a a479m) was hoping 351m! Does anyone have any thoughts on that swap? Don't want a race truck or enter in tractor pulls!! Just something different that looks stock/ it's plaid valve covers!! Is weight a real issue if I take everything off I can . It is 3/4t. Thanks so much for your input!!! I love these trucks &these enginesm. I forgot to say could I put a 305 crank in that 478?

Contact peter chronis (bblockv6). He did the very thing you are asking.

I would not swap parts around between a 305 and 478, if they are running fine run them the way they are. The information I found here says 305E weighs 795#, 478 weighs 925#, that's only 130# more for 173 more CID. Ford's newest World Beater V-8 is 7.3L, 444 cid, you will have that beat by 34 cid. Ford has EFI, and lots of other new bits and pcs, BUT I've heard BBlockV6's truck idling on video and it sounds awesome!
Your truck, a 3/4T will be fine with that 478 in it.

Thanks for your input! I probably wouldn't mess with this eng except balancing its so sweet. I was just curious if that would work& how it would act. When I see your name I think of 7.3 powerstroke diesels. Are you into them? I sure am (first gen obs). I bought this sweet gmc 4yrs ago & have a new love!! Love these trucks & these v6's. This is a great website. Thanks again
