Quigley,

Hitch look good. FYI - I had a receiver welded between plates of the heavy duty rear bumper on my 64 3/4 ton GMC that I had used for years to pull pin fastened trailers and a bolt-on ball holder for a two horse trailer. But the welder surprised me with a reluctance to install the 2" receiver because of the size of metal that the bumper was connected to. When I described the past use, he went ahead and installed the receiver, but told me I shouldn't hook more than a 2 horse trailer to it. I only mention this as a note of caution, and it might not apply to your set-up. But if your new receiver is fastened to the bumper, you might take a look at how the bumper is connected.

Thanks for your concern.
I took a good look at how the bumper is connected before I started the project. As far as strength is concerned it is MUCH stronger than I will ever need. Small trailer or bike rack is all it will ever be used for. Dave
