Default 66 power steering

I just finished my 66, and have driven around the country side a couple times. I am having a problem with the power steering pump getting hot. The steering works great, but the longer I drive it the hotter the pump gets. after about 10 miles the pump temp is above 250 degrees. The pump is rebuilt, it has a new control valve, and the cylinder is new. Anyone have this problem before?

I had a similar problem years ago on a plymouth. I installed a rebuild pump to replace a leaky pump. When I drove it it would be fine at very low speeds. By as I sped up the steering wheel would become very hard to turn. The pump got so hot that it burned off the paint. Got another pump and it fixed the problem.

Found the problem, the pump rebuild kit had a new adapter fitting for the pressure hose. The orifice in the new fitting was a bigger diameter than the original fitting. I put the old fitting in the back of the pump and works fine now. Thanks for all the advice.
