True, but not running taking up space in my shop is worthless also. I bought this truck running drove it a couple times then not getting any spark. I just want to drive it.

Exactly as good as any computer controlled brand new one. Meaning to say it won't work at all.

On the other hand, points don't care if terrorists are around. They get your family moving regardless.

Just my 2 cents.
Just another reason to keep your old points in the glove box after you install Pertronix.

Keeping the points handy is a great idea and compromise. Pertronix seems to have good support here. That's worth something.
I guess poster does not want help with the actual issue, which may not even be fixed with HEI or Pertronix.

How about just going to Napa and getting a new coil, condenser, and points?
They also sell the pertronix which comes with a coil and module. The coil bolts in place of the old one and the module bolts in place of the points using the distributor in the truck.
You may have other electrical issues causing no spark as well. Engine isn't the problem it's something else. Stock coil, points and condenser is cheap so start there.
