Default Cross compatibility between Chevy and GMC

Hello all,
Are the body components between Chevy and GMC trucks of the same year cross compatible?
I only ask because I've stumbled upon someone that wants to get rid of the hood from his 61 Chevy. He reckons the older more bulbous style hood is hideous (I think he's crazy lol)

From reading Jolly's page it sounds like it should just bolt right on to a GMC. But, I'm not sure.

Fits but pretty different cat eye area, as you know.

I guess I'm just a sucker for the jet plane look LOL. I don't know why, the older hoods remind me of the big fins that you used to see cruising around.... Or so I hear, unfortunately you're going back to my father's day and age with that kind of talk.

I reckon the hood on this one's probably too far gone to look at getting it sent over here though..... Without being able to look at it in person, I wouldn't be willing to take a chance on what's going on under the leaves and such.

It's a shame really, some old truck just forgotten about to the point that even the parts might be beyond saving.

Thanks for the advice about the fit though. I'll keep it in mind if something a bit better/closer comes along.

Yeah, you can tell that one is pretty much shot. Keep looking though as they do show up now and then. I passed on a good repairable for $100 a couple of years ago at a swap meet.

I can't say that I need it (my 61 has the matching hood on it). But, my ears came to a point when the guy said he wasn't interested in keeping his... I figured worse case scenario I'd pass the info along through here to see if anyone close by might want it.
