Mounting radio speaker
I'm having the radio upgrades to Fm-digital with an iPod input, I bought a replacement dual speaker set up through LMC (same as others I suspect). I’m trying to figure out how to mount it, they don’t give you any real help. I have the original factory radio brace and will dry fit the radio in the dash to see what she looks like and what kind of room I have, I suppose I can rig something up, but would rather try and do it correctly. I’m not the first ones to have the issue. Anybody else did this yet?

Re: Mounting radio speaker
If you are using a replacement for the original speaker, there is a mount that the factory used to attach the speaker to the underside of the dash. If you do not have it you will have to fabricate one. I guess this is why most folks purchase kick panels with the speakers already in them. Hope this helps you out.

Re: Mounting radio speaker
OK I dug out the OEM speaker mount and can understand where that goes, but I will need to buy a OEm factory speaker IF I can't use this part to hold in the NEW after market dual set up?

Re: Mounting radio speaker
Left is factory speaker bracket for '64-66 GMC cabs for the factory 4x10 under-dash speaker. The rubber tip sits on top of the ashtray housing. Right is the factory speaker bracket for '60-63 cabs which is offset to sit on the ashtray housing. The dash location of the ashtray, heater controls and such was changed between '63 and '64.
