Rebuilt 351M Long Block

2 Attachment(s)
Ain't she pretty? I just acquired a 351M long block from an engine rebuilder in Dallas. Apparently, he bought a truck load of old stock engines that included three of these. Anyone on here purchased the other two in the last six months from Dallas? Plan is to put the 351 in place of my tired 305E. Only downside is that I need to reuse my small port 305 heads and manifolds since I don't have the magnum manifolds for these heads. Still will be a nice improvement to get rid of my oil burner and do a repaint in my engine compartment.
regards
Steve
New Orleans.

I recall seeing that Texas CL ad a bit back. Glad you got one. Hopefully you can get the proper manifolds to keep the magnum a magnum.

Steve, you won't have to use the 305 heads, even though the 305 manifolds have small ports they will work with the Magnum heads. I bought a 478M that was a new replacement engine in a 63 Tilt cab that had the original small port intake and exhaust manifolds that came in the truck. If I were you I would start searching for the correct manifolds, someone will have what you need, meanwhile if you'll be running the small port intake a Holley 500 will simply bolt on with an adapter.

Pete:
Thanks, I didn't know that. I will give that a try. I hated to pull off these nice heads, but was afraid that I couldn't locate the right intake/exhaust.
Regards,
Steve

Steve, You definitely don't to pull off those heads as they are so much better than the 305 heads. Just give it some time you will eventually will find the right manifolds.

Congrats on the 351!
I might be able to help.
I have two junk V12s. They are reeally junk, and have no idea of their condition. But still have the intake manifolds/w NG/propane carbs on them. The exhaust manifolds are there, but was bad to crack, so don't know if there's two good ones. The heads are still there, but again, no idea if they are any good. I'm sure they've had rain water in them, so probably busted.

They've been out in the weather for years, so have no idea the condition or history on any of them. All internal parts are trash.

PM me if interested, and I can send info and pics.

A fresh rebuilt 351 is a treasure for sure. Looking forward to seeing her "on the road".

Re: Rebuilt 351M Long Block

The V12 has small port heads and the spacing on the intake manifold is different so it won't work with the V6. The exhaust manifolds taking that they are the I beam style can be ported out to match the Magnum ports.
