I agree with Ken. 60-66 GMC hubcaps were either chrome plated steel or anodized aluminum. I think your MAGA hat is safe.

As noted in my original post I am a newbie and there is much background info that is unknown to me. Aluminum seems the most likely from the weight and appearance; does the quick polishing job look like it is most likely simply polished aluminum?

Yes. Aluminum.
ALSO, see this pic from 6066 GMCCLUB/Jolly pages/Hub Caps/Arthur Throckmorton. The 62-63 era was evidently a transition period at GMC regarding hub cap style. (Nubs being phased-in for clips.) The size of the Ebay pair look to be larger than the 1/2T shown in the pic from our site. In the pic from 6066, left is nub cap, right is clip cap. I assume you have a 1/2T. Buyer beware. Whoever the buyer was, they paid something like $125+/per hubcap. So again, not sure how easy these are to find - maybe more so at swap meets?
